Chainsaw & Power Carved Hare. The carving has been made out of hardwood to ensure it's longevity. This is a substantial carving which stands at 61 cm tall and would make a nice addition to someone's garden. It would easily be at home sat in a border or on a patio. With this particular piece I have treated it with a wood preserve to kill any wood critters that may have taken up residence.
It has also had a light burn to add to the character & bring out the shading & colours in the wood. The carving has then had several coats of oil to preserve and protect it. As you can see from the pictures there are some cracks in the wood which add to it's natural character. Please be aware that wood will split over time. This is not a fault it is just the natural process of the wood drying out and stabilising to it's new environment.
I would recommend treating it with oil & keeping it out of direct sunlight to start with. A few coats of oil during the first year or if it starts to look dry. Decking oil would be fine. It is also advisable to raise any wooden carving slightly off the ground so that any water does not congregate underneath it as this will lead to the carving sucking up the water.
If the carving is going to be kept in the house then it is best to keep it away from direct heat sources & place something underneath it to start with to stop any oil transfer to surfaces. Weight - 11.5 kg. Any questions please feel free to contact me.
